Your Responsibility

Your key responsibilities include:

To define and determine the future shape of the advancement activities delivered through current UNNC education foundation, donor relations, and alumni relations functions. To develop a strategy to strengthen its engagement of key stakeholders so as to fulfil the University's mission. The successful candidate will transform the University's fundraising programme in China, develop and execute a comprehensive engagement plan that will include cultivation, solicitation and volunteer management. The post holder will develop and implement fundraising strategies with senior leadership and the advisory board to secure significant philanthropic support for University priorities, and align its direction with the central advancement office in Nottingham, UK.

About You

  • Bachelor Degree in relevant disciplines
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically within China and with occasional international travel.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, negotiate and work collaboratively across a complex organisation.
  • Innovative and strategic thinker and operator, with sound business planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills, with an open and inclusive style which inspires trust to a wide audience.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, sophistication and gravitas.
  • A skilled and tactful negotiator.
  • Diplomatic and calm under pressure.
  • Confident, proactive resilient and resourceful in solving problems and coming up with solutions.
  • Enterprising mindset, with an entrepreneurial flair and ability to identify income generating opportunities, and push the business forward to increase results.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and ability to articulate the various programmes and the impact of thought leaders at the UNNC; the ability to interact with educators and tell their story in a compelling way.
  • High degree of self-motivation, enthusiastic personality and a strong work ethic as an individual contributor and collaborative team player, requiring minimum supervision.
  • Persistence and the ability to work within ambiguity and changing environments.
  • Persistence and resilience; with a good sense of humour and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to speak Chinese will be an advantage, although not essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising, in particular major gifts fundraising at the 6-figure level and above, ideally gained in the higher education sector.
  • Experience of developing and implementing robust strategies to increase income levels.
  • Effectiveness in the management of senior volunteers and board members with successful philanthropic outcomes.
  • Demonstrable success in getting staff and peers to work together for the benefit of the wider institution.
  • Successful track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience of working with donors and alumni
    in Asia, ideally in China and Hong Kong.
  • Excellent written communication skills necessary for fundraising proposals, feature writing and reports.
  • Ability to form and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing and controlling budgets/resources and an understanding of financial management procedures.
  • Commitment to supporting the University's globalisation mission and ability to leverage the power of philanthropy to make an impact for Nottingham University in China and the wider world.
  • Educated to undergraduate degree level from
    a recognised university.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation and the implications of noncompliance by the University.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety policies and procedures relative to the role, and the quality outputs and standards required.

This is a Regular post that you will be offered a fixed term contract initially of 5 years with a probation of 6 months with University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
