The University of Cambridge and Department of Paediatrics invites applications for the position of Professor of Paediatrics (Honorary Consultant) and Head of Department of Paediatrics.

The Department of Paediatrics is part of the School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge and is embedded within the Addenbrooke's Hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This opportunity represents an exciting time to join the Department and contribute to its continued national and international reputation. The Department is a major stakeholder in the new Cambridge Children's Hospital and Research Institute, due to open in 2028. The Department actively collaborates with a range of stakeholders, including clinical partners in the NHS, other national and international academic institutions, the UK Government, and various policy groups, as well as service users and carers.

As Head of Department the post holder will play a key role in devising and delivering an ambitious strategy and vision to develop the Department's world class research, teaching and clinical service. The successful candidate will engage with key stakeholders within the University and NHS to develop innovative research and uphold our commitment to educational excellence, financial responsibility and impact within the NHS. As Professor of Paediatrics, the chosen individual with contribute to excellence in research that encompasses international leadership in the post holder's relevant subject area. The postholder will also contribute to teaching within the department/faculty.

Candidates will possess proven academic leadership and management experience and be able to demonstrate strategic vision. The successful candidate will have a significant track record of internationally recognised research in their designated field, including publications in high quality journals, a successful track record of developing and securing external research funding and supervision of PhD students to completion. The appointee will also have the ability to manage and develop effective working relationships with research staff and display a strong commitment to fostering an ambitious and inclusive environment.
