The role of the Assistant Building Management System Engineer is to ensure the effective operation of the University’s Building Management System (BMS) providing expert knowledge, guidance, & support in its strategic development and to ensure the safe and timely completion of planned and reactive maintenance of the Building Management System.   

You will work closely with workshop supervisors, engineers, & managers to deliver continued support of building services, ensuring minimum down time, increased efficiency, and end user satisfaction, including:

  • providing expert knowledge, guidance & leadership in the development of the BMS
  • fault diagnosis and rectification of the complete BMS installation, in terms of both physical control hardware and operating software
  • direct internal staff and contractors in the planned, preventative, & reactive maintenance of the BMS

About you

You must have served a recognised City & Guilds or NVQ 3 apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering Maintenance, or an appropriate engineering discipline (or related subject) and have demonstrable post training experience in the maintenance, repair, installation & fitting of BMS/automated controls.

Other desirable qualifications are

  • Relevant qualification in BMS/automated controls related subject for Schneider Sigma & EBO systems
  • IET 18th Edition
  • City and Guilds Level 1 Diploma or NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Plumbing, Heating, & Ventilation
  • JIB ECS card
  • IOSH Certificate
  • PASMA licence
  • IPAF licence

Further information

As a contractual requirement you will be required to participate in the 24-hour call-out system and an appropriate independent means of transport is required, along with living no further than one hour’s journey time to the University.
