The above full-time post is available from 15 August 2024 on a fixed term basis for 12 months at the University of Exeter Medical School’s European Centre for Environment and Human Health, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

The role

This temporary post is primarily maternity cover for teaching responsibilities on the BMBS programme delivered primarily in Truro and on microbiology and the MSc Environment and Human Health programme delivered on Penryn campus. Some teaching may be required in Exeter and Cornwall-based staff compensated for travel.

The role of Associate Lecturer (Education and Scholarship) will include responsibility for supporting the design, development and production of teaching and learning material and deliver either across a range of modules of the BMBS, 3rd year undergraduate module of Global Health, MSc Evolutionary and Environmental Microbiology and the MSc Environment and Human Health. You will work with undergraduate and postgraduate programme directors to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the Faculty’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You will also contribute directly to foundation teaching in one or more of the disciplinary areas in the Faculty and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Faculty.

About you

For an Associate Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD (or nearing completion), or equivalent qualification/experience, of the core knowledge relating to any area of biomedical, natural or social sciences and microbiology, public and planetary health in order to teach and support learning on environment and health-related modules.
